Removing Barriers to Higher Education
The Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) is a federally funded TRIO Program, which is hosted by the Metropolitan Development Council. The EOC was created in 1970 and has been serving the residents of Pierce County for over 30 years. The mission of the EOC is to assist participants in their pursuit of post-secondary education. This mission is carried out by providing free educational and career advising to each individual.
What does the EOC offer?
The EOC is able to assist participants with the following: College Application Assistance, Completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), Educational Loan Default Advocacy, Interest and Skills Assessments, Education and Career Resource Library and a Computer Lab.
Who is eligible?
To qualify for EOC services you:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must be a resident of Pierce County.
- Must meet specific income requirements.
- Must have a desire to enroll in a post-secondary education program or to further your education.
